About Toto
The band Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also well-known studio musicians working with Boz Scaggs at the time) as well as bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from a Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every style of music.
Toto's third release, Turn Back, was not a success in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hit songs with the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour established them as a brand across the globe.
After a brief hiatus, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. The album is a departure from the ballads on previous albums, and features some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
When they record the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and are faced with financial difficulties. They decide to record a brand new album and change their name with an alternative producer. 안전놀이터 , the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, takes over Fergie Frederiksen as lead singer. Joseph is an easier frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a needed boost.
In 1999, the band release Mindfields and embarks on an extensive tour around the world. After a few months in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief hiatus, Toto resumes their recording and release their first live album entitled Absolutely Live in 1993. It also features a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe as a response to the band's performance in Africa during their recent tour. Toto's touring lineup is completed by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.
